Installing Other Mods

Others mods are categorised slightly differently than the rest of the sections of ModHub. Due to this there are several different types of mod available in this section.

Click one of the buttons below to choose which mod type you’re trying to install.

Login Screens Rank/Class Mods Misc. UI Mods Programs

Note these tutorials will work on any version of CrossFire, each version shares the same folder structure.

Login Screens

  1. First off you want to find out where you installed CrossFire to. Note that this is not the folder found in your My Documents folder but the folder in your Program Files folder.
  2. Next download the login screen you wish to use.
  3. Extract the files from either the .ZIP or .RAR you downloaded. You need WinRAR to extract .RAR files, it can be found here.
  4. Most login screens only have a UI_Login folder while some have both a UI_Login and a Scripts folder.

  1. Now go back to where your CrossFire installation folder was, you want to navigate to the rez folder.

  1. Once in the rez folder go to the UI folder.

  1. You now want to copy the login screen folders (UI_Login and sometimes Scripts) you downloaded to your UI folder.
  2. It will ask you if you want to Confirm Folder Replace, select Yes (if there is the option to Do this for all current items then be sure to check it).
  3. It will then ask you if you want to Copy files. Select Copy and Replace and be sure to select the Do this for the next # conflicts.

…and you’re done! Launch the game and test out your new login screen!

Programs

Programs are usually built to work from the go or include instructions with them.

Currently there are only two programs available for public download in the Other Mods section of ModHub.

CF Tool includes a Q&A section in the program that should answer a fair number of your questions. When selecting your CrossFire directory it also provides help on how to select it.

MszEdit opens .MSZ files only and allows you to edit the files directly in the program. By default the MSZ file is located in the NationMsz folder inside of the rez folder of your CrossFire installation. MszEdit does not affect your game until you have saved it and also offers to back up your files.
